Site Appraisal for Development
The UK planning system is complex, involving consultation with local authorities, agencies and the public. Being able to assess site quickly to establish viability is an essential tool at the developers disposal when it comes to determining a potential option on a land purchase or assess a sites capacity. Our work on the Chestfield site near Whitstable in Kent helped to assess site topography as part of the site lies in a flood risk zone.
Assessing development risk
Topography and vegetation play a major role in determining a sites potential for development. Unmanned aerial vehicles can help to provide a better picture of a sites development potential by building 3D models and by analysing terrain and tree canopy heights. The technology can also be used to determine strategic views for visual impact assessment and potential boundary conflicts and access issues.
